Ah, we are halfway through January, finally. I miss the warmth of Summer and long days of shooting outdoors. I know the weather will change soon enough. We really haven't had a super eventful week, but we did bring home a new puppy! His name is Dexter, and he is just the cutest little fluff ball. I'm looking forward to watching him grow with our family.
Since I don't have a lot to say this morning, here are a few photos to sum up our week.
Well, we've made it through the first week of the new year. It's funny how time flies all year except when it's freezing outside. I have to admit, I am not a fan of cold weather. Most days, I spend a ridiculous amount of time daydreaming about laying on a warm beach and sipping cocktails. Maybe, one day that stay-cation life will become a reality.
Anyway, I am very pumped about this brand new year! Like most of you, I have made some resolutions, that I may or may not keep. Eat out less, save more money for travel, be happier, put up with less shit from people who don't bring me any joy...ect. However, I am really here to tell you about my photography goals. The biggest one is my P365. That basically just means I need to shoot EVERY SINGLE DAY of the year!
So far, I've only missed one day of picking up my camera, which I'm letting slide, due to the terrible weather. I will NOT give up, though.
I also plan to get in front of my lens a hell of a LOT more this year. You see, I realized that I have all of these beautiful photos of my family without me. One day, when I'm gone, I want my children to have photos with me by their side. It's so easy for me to get caught up in life and not want a photo taken because I don't look a certain way. But when I look back at photos of my grandparents, who have passed, I don't notice what they were wearing or their hair or any of the silly shit we worry about. I just remember them. I remember who they were, and I treasure all those photos.
The last thing I want to touch on, is our photography community. Photography has not only helped me bond with some amazing people all over the world, but also right here in my own area. It brought me Rachel, one of my best friends and my business partner. This industry can feel lonely, competitive, and isolating at times. We are all trying to make it and it's freaking HARD. I am not the most successful person when it comes to getting clients and making money, but I LOVE being a photographer. I'm passionate and every other person I know, working their ass off everyday at this is just as passionate. With that being said, I really, desperately want to expand my photographer friendships here in Arkansas. I know we have an amazing group of people, and I want to meet you all! I want to shoot with you all and make bonds that last a lifetime. So, one of my goals, even though, I am NOT even close to being popular, is to bring a good group together at some point this year, just to shoot, have fun, and learn from each other. I don't know when, or where just yet, but I am going to make it happen.
Okay, now that I have poured some of my heart, here are my photos from this week. Another goal: Actually get some photos of the boys! Eek, the girls are all about it, but those boys make it difficult haha.
Oh, Friends, I promise I have been meaning to blog this year, but for so many reasons, I have put it off. However, there is no time like the present! As many of you know, if you follow me on social media, lots of big changes and fun have come my way this year. I have photographed some truly beautiful families that just filled my heart with pure joy. I will be posting some of my favorite images from their sessions down below. Seriously, I love you guys! <3
I have also teamed up with Rachel Coney from Rachel Coney Photography to create Bloom and Peak Wedding Photography! Not only is Rachel one of my very best friends, but she shares the passion I do for beautiful moments of people in love. I am honored to partner up with her and can't wait to take on 2018!
It's here. The very last day of 2016. I was hoping to post a list of my top ten favorite photographs from the year, but I just cannot narrow it down to so few. So, instead I will just share some of the moments I have loved, in no particular order.
I'm looking forward to what new adventures 2017 will bring. I believe it's going to be amazing.
So, it's been a while! The past couple months have been overwhelmingly busy for our family. The holidays are always a bit chaotic, but this year we also bought a house. Moving is hard work with five kids, but I honestly couldn't be any happier.
Also, as many of you have already noticed, I changed the name of my business. I've wanted to for a while now and finally just took the plunge. K Dot was cute, but I feel I have outgrown it and I'm looking forward to taking on some new projects in 2017.
Sadly, I haven't picked up my camera enough over that past two months, so I only have a few photos to share with you today. I am planning to post another blog this week compiling my favorite photographs from 2016!
This gorgeous family session was so much fun! We walked through the woods and shared lots of laughs....
Happy Halloween Everyone!
I must say, October is my very favorite month. It's still pretty warm here in Arkansas, but the forecast of cooler temperatures looks promising the next week. I want to soak up every minute of this season.
I held Fall Minis this past weekend with some wonderful families. Here are a few of my favorite shots.
I had the privilege of spending my Sunday hanging out with these precious kiddos. The bond between these four is absolutely priceless. You can just feel their love and loyalty to each other. I can't wait until I get the next chance to capture a moment in their lives and continue to watch them grow.
Hello Friends! I've been meaning to blog these photos for a week now, but our family has been very busy.
We are officially under a purchase contract for a house! Now, I know that anything can happen between now and closing day, especially with the inspection, but as long as we don't hit any major bumps in the road between now and then, we will be relocating to Greenbrier next month! I should start organizing, minimizing, and packing our things, but being the worrier that I am, I am waiting to do all that until after the inspection.
I still have a few spots open for Fall Minis! If you haven't booked yours yet, shoot me an email at Kdotphoto@outlook.com to grab your time slot!
Fall is almost here, you guys, and I cannot wait. I love everything about the coming months. The changing seasons, the activities, the smells, and the holidays. Oh the holidays! I love them all. You know those memes where they show two different kinds of people when it comes to Christmas? Yeah, I'm Will Ferrell in Elf all the way. That is of course, my favorite Christmas movie of all time.
Anyway, we attempted to kick off early Fall by making caramel apple bites. Only the caramel didn't really stick and the kids decided to eat them long before they cooled. Really, they just ended up eating all the toppings out of the bowls. I snapped a couple of photos, but quickly put down my camera to get my hands sticky with the rest of them. This is our beautiful, messy life and I love it.
If you haven't already, head over to my Facebook and enter to win a free Fall Mini Session! Winner will be announced on Tuesday!
